Cheka School Term 1 ended the second week of April. Before the break we created and hand wrote exams for each member of the Simba and Tembo class for writing, math, science, health, and English. The testing went well and we are very please with the students progress. To celebrate the end of Term 1 as well as Easter (as most of the students are Christian) we planned a celebration at school today.

The students colored in sungura (bunnies) then glued cotton to their pictures. After art we had a picnic with the kids. We gave them jelly sandwiches, cookies and chocolate along with their porridge they receive every day. They loved it! I also brought in ipod speakers and we had a dance party.

Another Highlight of the Week-
Amy received a major donation from family friends and was able to purchase 2 swing sets and a slide. They were built from scratch! The students were so excited to watch their new playground equipment be installed, they could barley focus on their morning lesson. Since there are no parks or public playgrounds in Arusha, I would be surprised if the students have ever played on proper equipment.
