Cradle of Love

On Wednesday I headed to a baby orphanage (aged 0- 4).    It was incredible.  Very western in a lovely house.    It was adorable to play with the babies and feed them.  They are very well staffed and have a lot of volunteers…they generally have a LOT.   They are funded by a Luthern church in America which explains why they have so much and why Cheka has so little.  I know that is lovely… but I appreciate that my placement has given me the opportunity to see progress and make some change- very lucky.  Also, I can only wonder what happens to these children when they leave at age 4…either back to their families (who couldn’t afford them at such a young age) or to other less privileged orphanages.   They are extremely lucky to have so much love and constant attention, as well as clothes, food and facilities but I can't imagine how  hard it will be for them to leave that- they also all know English (which is fantastic) but going to a place where they only speak Swahili must be hard. But I guess 4 years of love is never a bad thing!
