Our Kids- Home Visits

Nema M.
Just turned 3 years old in early February
Youngest of 5 siblings (brothers: 18, 15, 13, 11)
Mother looks after the children and farm animals, occasionally with stonework
Father works in the area

Kelvin
Is 4 years old
One brother who is 2 years old
Live in 2 room house (living room and bedroom)
Mother has a manual labor job, working with stones
Father is not around and offers no financial support
Her rent is paid for by her brother in law but struggles to buy food and pay school fees

Ali
Is 4 years old
Lives with his mother and Imran from Cheka School
The father works out of the city as a farmer
Mother sells food in the morning on the street
Live in one small 5x8 ft room with a bed, couch and small shelf

Zuhura
Is 4 years old
Has a 3 month old sibling
Lives with mother and father in small one bedroom home (6x6 ft)
The ceilings are made from cardboard boxes
Parents are both unemployed and struggling to afford rent, food and school fees

Imran
Is 3.5 years old.
Lives with his mother and Ali from Cheka School
Had one brother who passed away
Mother sells shoes on the street
Live in one small 5x8 ft room with a bed, couch and small shelf



Faraja
Lives with mother, baby sister, aunt and baby cousin
Has 3 week old sister
Father left- became angry when her mother became pregnant
Father comes to visit Faraja occasionally
Is 3 years, 4 months old
Mother and aunt run a business selling eggs and has about 20-30 chickens
Have enough money for rent and some food, but struggle to pay school fees
Have 2 rooms (living room and bedroom area) The aunt and cousin sleep in an adjoining room that is shared with the chickens.  Rooms about 10x10 ft.

Nema P.
Lives in the same complex as Sam- Director of Cheka
Has a brother who is 6 months old named Joshua
Buys fish from the market and re-sells them in the area
Father is a farmer and away frequently
She is 3.5 years old
The family moved to Sekina three months ago
5 families live in their complex

Karen
Lives with her mother
Shares a home with Issaya from Cheka School and his mother
They have a small business and sell homemade alcohol
Very difficult to feed all of the children/family members
Has one brother who is 7 years old and in grade 2 at a government school
Is 3 years, 4 months old.



Isaya
Lives with his mother
Shares a home with Karen from Cheka School and Karen’s mother
They have a small business and sell homemade alcohol
Very difficult to feed all of the children/family members
Has a sister who’s 12 years old and in grade 5 at a government school
Is 4 years old
His father left and does not support them financially

Godlove
Has a 2 older sisters: ages 3 and 5
Father died
Is 4 years old
Used to live with Bill from Cheka School and are good friends
Mother buys vegetables from the market and re-sells them
Pays 15,000 tsh rent a month ($10 US)
Three children and mother share one room (couch, coffee table, one bed) about 12x12 ft
